Taguig LGU launches vaccination registration for 12-17 years old

The Taguig City government launched the registration of minors 12 to 17 years old for vaccination against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post, the Taguig Registry for Assessment and Citizen Engagements (TRACE) announced that 12 to 17 years old who are residents and non-residents who go to school in Taguig may register “to gain access to benefits from the City.”

TRACE Taguig did not directly say this was for COVID-19 vaccination but the Public Information Office confirmed that the registration is also for the inoculation rollout for the age group.

Registration at TRACE “aims to give Taguigeños easier access to the local government’s programs and services, especially health and socio-economic benefits.”

“TRACE serves as a passbook for all Taguigeños to all establishments in Taguig without compromising COVID contact tracing, accessible transactions and socio-economic benefits, a medical database for citizens in all Taguig City public health centers, and registration and getting a QR Code can be done free of charge,” according to TRACE.

With this, Taguig has followed other local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila that have started registering 12 to 17 years old for COVID-19 vaccination.

For non-residents who go to school in Taguig, they also need to provide their school’s address in the city.

Some Metro Manila LGUs have started the registration after the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of the Moderna and Pfizer BioNTech vaccines for 12 years old and above.

Last May 28, the FDA granted Pfizer Philippines’ request to amend its Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).

“This applies to the request for revision of the issued EUA to include individuals 12 years of age and older in its indication for active immunization for the prevention of COVID-19 caused by SARS-COV-2. After due consideration, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hereby revises the EUA granted to Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to reflect requested change in the indication,” the FDA told Pfizer.

Last Sept. 2, the FDA approved the use of the Moderna vaccine for 12 years and above after Zuellig Pharma Corp. requested the agency to amend the original EUA dated Aug. 12.
