No final recommendation yet on the administration of COVID-19 vaccine booster shots---DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday, Sept. 13, that there is still no final recommendation on whether to use booster shots for those fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a statement, the DOH said that this matter is still being studied by the agency and the country’s vaccine experts.

“The DOH All Expert Group together with the DOH is still carefully deliberating this,” the DOH said.

“There is no final recommendation yet from the experts, nor approval from the DOH on the administration of booster shots,” it added.

The DOH said that it is set to “decide based on the recommendations from the experts.”

If the use of booster shots will be approved, these will most likely be provided first to healthcare workers and immunocompromised individuals, said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire last Sept. 4.
