Contact tracing should be more targeted during granular lockdowns -- PGH spox

An official from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) called on the national government to implement a more targeted contact tracing during the implementation of granular lockdowns in Metro Manila.

"More mobility means higher chance of people getting the virus, higher transmission. I think for us, bottomline naman sa mga ospital (for the hospitals), healthcare workers, whatever works that will translate to lesser transmission without probably sacrificing the economy," del Rosario said in an interview with ANC.

"Make sure that if you implement granular lockdowns its through data, it's not like may delay. Contact tracing really has to be more efficient and targeted," he added.

Del Rosario also noted that implementing the same lockdown protocols "would hardly matter."

"Parang yung last ECQ hindi masyadong ECQ dahil ang dami pa ring nakakalabas. Maybe the one that we had a year ago, when there were less authorized persons outside of residence (APORs). If this hard lockdown is the same that we had a couple of weeks ago, baka wala rin (It seems like the last ECQ was unlike what we had a year ago where there were less APORs. If this hard lockdown is the same that we had a couple of weeks ago, it won't work)."

Granular lockdowns and an alert level system will be piloted in the region from Sept. 16 to 30.

Under the new scheme, there will be alert levels declared over each city or municipality - Alert Levels 1 to 4.
