BOC steps up drive vs illegal entry of meat products

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has intensified the operation against meat and meat products without import permits to protect the local industry.

In a statement, the BOC said the the intensified campaign is also to prevent the entry of meat products that may contain diseases.

Since September 1, the BOC at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport has seized 39 kilos of beef and 17.5 kilos of pork from airline passengers.

On the other hand, the BOC reported that they confiscated 363.75 kilos of meat and meat products with no Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) clearance and health certificate from January to September 6, 2021.
