77,000 students enrolled in Muntinlupa public schools this year

There are more than 77,000 students enrolled in public schools in Muntinlupa this year, according to the Schools Division Office in the city.

As of Sept. 12, 77,248 students have been enrolled from Kinder to Grade 12 and Special Education (SPED), lower by 11.21 percent, or 9,759 students, compared to 87,007 total enrollees last year.

Of the 77,248 students, 38,809, or 50.23 percent are female, while 38,439, or 49.76 percent, are male.

By grade level, 5,355 students are enrolled in Kinder; 6,490 in Grade 1; 6,148 in Grade 2; 7,241 in Grade 3; 7,243 in Grade 4; 6,155 in Grade 5; and 5,209 in Grade 6 for a total of 43,841.

In junior high school, 6,013 students are in Grade 7; 6,256 in Grade 8; 5,481 in Grade 9; and 5,927 in Grade 10 for a total of 23,676.

In senior high school, there are 5,845 students enrolled in Grade 11 and 3,566 in Grade 12 for a total of 9,411. There are also 320 students in SPED.

The Department of Education opened the school year 2021-2022 on Monday, and said students can still enroll until Sept. 30.

With the country still under the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be blended learning in Muntinlupa using online classes and modules.

“Today, we are opening the School Year 2021-2022 as we celebrate last year's victory. The challenges we are facing now are even tougher than those we battled last year. Nonetheless, 24,603,822 million learners have returned to schools and we expect even more to enlist for late enrollment,” said Education Sec. Leonor Briones.
