Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), vowed on Sunday, Sept. 12, to dismiss a policeman who was arrested in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Gerona town of Tarlac on Friday.
Police Corporal Geymar Orquero, assigned to the Tarlac City Police, was collared along with Joel Umagat and Marvin Gadia in Barangay Calayaan. Seized from them were 10 small sachets containing suspected shabu, a handgun and the marked money used during the buy-bust.

Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, director of the Police Regional Office 3, said Orquero is not only a drug user based on the report they received but also a protector and financier of known drug pushers in Gerona town.
In ordering a deeper investigation, Eleazar said he wants to know if Orquero has other cohorts in the local police force in the protection and the financing of illegal drugs.
“I was already assured (by de Leon) hat this scalawag policeman was already disarmed and is currently detained. Aside from administrative charges which will lead to his dismissal from the service, separate criminal cases will also be filed against Police Corporal Orquero," said Eleazar.
More than 5,000 policemen were already dismissed from the service since July 2016 due to involvement in various illegal activities that includes drug use and illegal drug protection racket.
