PH Red Cross vaccinates over 200K people vs COVID-19

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) reported on Saturday, Sept. 11, that it has now vaccinated 201,267 individuals against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Of the figure, the humanitarian organization said 61,915 individuals have been fully vaccinated through their Bakuna Centers and mobile vaccination clinics called as Bakuna Buses nationwide.

"With the ongoing Delta variant and the continuous surge of cases, we need to act fast to expand our the services at our Bakuna Centers and the frequency of our Bakuna Buses,” PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Richard Gordon said in a statement.

“This is the reason why our Red Cross volunteers and staff are working 24/7,” he added.

Moreover, PRC volunteers and staff administered 5,208 shots in its 11 Bakuna Centers and eight Bakuna Buses that were in operation on Sept. 10, and deployed in various locations nationwide.

Aside from the vaccine provided by the national government, the PRC shoulders all other costs, including but not limited to syringes, mobilization, and vaccinator allowances.

“We want to be able to reach out to more Filipinos and get them vaccinated,” Gordon said.

“In this way, people can now safely go back to work and their schools, we can open up the economy, and we can help curb the pandemic,” he added.
