Despite the initial slippage in vaccine production, around 17 million doses of Pfizer and Sinovac Biotech's CoronaVac vaccines will be delivered to the country in September, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said.

In a pre-recorded Cabinet meeting aired on Saturday, Sept. 11, Galvez said Pfizer committed to deliver five million doses while Sinovac vowed a steady supply of 12 million doses this month.

An additional eight to 10 million doses os COVID-19 vaccine will also be donated by the United States through the COVAX facility while Japan is expected to donate one million doses too, he added.

"The Philippines is expecting a much bigger volume this September with a steady supply from Sinovac, Pfizer, and US/COVAX donation," he said in a mix of Filipino and English.

" another donation most likely from Japan," he added.

In August, the country received only 1.5 million doses of Pfizer but Galvez said the American vaccine manufacturer will increase its delivery up to five or 10 million doses in the fourth quarter of the year.

The government bought 40 million doses of Pfizer jabs for 2021, the biggest vaccine procurement it made this year.

Meanwhile, Sinovac has steadily supplied the country with its COVID-19 jab, delivering 10 million doses in August.

In total, the country is expecting 31.1 million doses this September with the rest of the supplies coming from Moderna (three to five million doses), AstraZeneca, (1.1 million doses), and Sputnik V (one million doses).

"The production issues of AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Sputnik V have been resolved," Galvez said.

The initial delivery of the single-dose Sputnik Light may also take place this month, according to the vaccine czar.

Since February, the country has received a total of 54,794,130 doses.

Around 37.7 million doses have already been administered nationwide with 16.1 million Filipinos deemed fully vaccinated and 21.6 million others inoculated with first dose.
