Malabon cops help food delivery rider duped by a customer

A Foodpanda delivery rider was just supposed to file complaint against a customer who tricked him but was surprised when policemen in Malabon ordered the undelivered food to help him.

The policemen assigned to the Potrero Police Sub-Station 1 under the leadership of Police Lieutenant Joseph Almayda decided to buy food after noticing that the rider was almost teary-eyed while narrating how he was tricked by a customer.

The rider said that after ordering the food, he immediately bought them and were supposed to deliver them when the supposed customer could no longer be contacted.

"Out of pity, the local police helped the rider by buying all the ordered food items that were not delivered to the customer who duped the Foodpanda rider," said Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Eleazar lauded the Malabon policemen for their good deed.

"We will still conduct investigation on this case with the help of our Anti-Cybercrime Group," said Eleazar.

This was not the first time that this incident happened as there were several cases in the past when customers would either duped or would suddenly cancel their orders. These cases were at the disadvantage of the food delivery riders as they were the ones who would pay the order.

The PNP, through its Anti-Cybercrime Group, has intensified the campaign against online scams, including this modus.

Recently, the PNP launched Project E-ACCESS which is aimed at helping netizens against cybercriminals that include scammers.
