Employees across the country continue to work from home during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and more Filipino employees say they are more productive while on alternative work arrangements.

Citing a survey conducted by the Development Academy of the Philippines, Civil Service Commission (CSC) Commissioner Aileen Lizada said 14 percent of Filipinos accomplish 100 percent of their tasks while on an alternative working arrangement, while 46 percent said they complete 90 to 100 percent of their tasks, and 33 percent said they finish 50 to 89 percent of their tasks.

Only seven percent said they only finish less than 50 percent of their tasks.

"Majority of managers and subordinates agreed that employees deliver quality and effective work on time," Lizada said in a virtual presser.

While the majority are reportedly productive, employees also cited that Internet connectivity; effective communication system for cascading information and instruction; and provision of information and communications technology (ICT) tools as facilitating factors for them to work or adopt to alternative work arrangements.

The majority of workers who adapt well in a work from home setup are from policy planning (37 percent), communication and information services (27 percent), research (27 percent), and general administrative services (25 percent).

Among the most common form of alternative work arrangements are working flexible hours, compressed work week, reduced schedule, and job sharing.
