Kamote riders: Eleazar orders probe on motorcycle stunts of 2 'cops' in Zambales

After that entertaining and dangerous motorcycle stunts, now comes the consequences.

Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), ordered on Wednesday, Sept. 1, a thorough investigation on the dangerous motorcycle stunts of two alleged policemen in a busy road in Zambales, the video of it went viral in the social media.

Eleazar said he watched the video after it was forwarded to him as some netizens claimed that the two motorcycle-riding "daredevils" are policemen.

He was not entertained.

"“Matapos kong mapanood ang viral video na ito, agad kong inatasan ang RD (Regional Director), PRO3 (Police Regional Office 3), Police Brig. Gen. Val de Leon pati na din ang Director ng Highway Patrol Group na tukuyin, imbestigahan at patawan ng karampatang parusa ang mga kamote riders na ito. Kasama sa aking utos ay alamin kung mga pulis nga ang dalawang ito (After I watched the video, I immediately ordered the RD, PRO3 Police Brig. Gen Val de Leon and Director Highway Patrol Group to identify, investigate and punish these kamote riders. Part of my order is to determine if these riders are indeed policemen) ,” said Eleazar.

Kamote rider is a lingo among motorcycle riders and refer to those who drive motorcycles with no knowledge or deliberately violating defense driving and traffic rules.

He said this action could not only endanger their lives but also of other motorists on the road, adding that their action was a violation of road regulations.

“May tamang lugar sa mga ganitong klaseng gawain at kailanman ay hindi kasama ang mga pampublikong kalsada dahil maari itong magdulot ng aksidente na ikakapahamak ng mga motorista at ng iba pa nating mga kababayan (There are proper places for these stunts but busy roads are definitely not one of them because these may cause accidents that would endanger other motorists and other people),” said Eleazar.

He said that if the investigation would reveal that they are indeed police officers, they would certainly be sanctioned.

Eleazar also warned other riders, especially policemen, not to do the same dangerous stunts in public places.
