Former Energy Usec De Dios takes helm of Manila Water

The Manila Water Company Board of Directors has appointed J. V. Emmanuel A. De Dios as a member of the Board and as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer as the Razon Group solidifies its control over the utility. De Dios was formerly Undersecretary of the Department of Energy and was also CEO of GE Philippines for eight years.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, MWC said Christian Martin R. Gonzalez has resigned as Director to give way to De Dios who will serve the remainder of Gonzalez’s term.

Tycoon Enrique K. Razon Jr. has also resigned as President and CEO with De Dios also taking over the unexpired term of Razon.

De Dios is also taking over the remaining term of Gonzalez as a member of the Executive Committeee and the Talent and Remuneration Committee of the MWC Board.

De Dios was appointed CEO of Prime Metro BMD Corporation (PrimeBMD) in September last year. PrimeBMD is a joint venture between Prime Infra, the infrastructure arm of the Razon Group and Australia’s BMD Group — one of the largest family owned civil contractors in Australia.

With De Dios now with Manila Water, Sebastian Lacson, Prime Infra’s Senior Project Director leading waste-to-fuel initiatives, assumed the concurrent role of PrimeBMD CEO.

Hans Christian Lopez, deputy project director of WawaJVCo, moves to PrimeBMD as chief operating officer.
