The Pasay City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) confirmed that there are 22 children below the age of 18 who are afflicted with the coronaviruse disease (COVID-19).
Miko Lloraca, CESU head, said 50 percent of the COVID-afflicted children were placed at the city’s isolation facilities for treatment and monitoring.
Llorca said the 11 other children are under home quarantine and are regularly being visited by the City Health Office (CHO) staff to check on their condition.
Three Pasay City residents with the Delta variant of COVID-19 are now fully recovered.
The CESU chief called on city residents not to allow their children to play outside their residences to avoid contracting the disease.
Lllorca reminded parents that vaccinations for children are not yet available and allowed by the national government.
He also asked Pasay City residents not to be complacent even if they are already fully vaccinated and to continue following the health protocols.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano on Sunday called on city residents to be extra vigilant as the Department of Health placed Pasay City is under Alert Level 3 or Code Blue Category.
Rubiano said Alert Level 3 means that there is a marked increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitals must be prepared to attend to the potential surge in the number of patients.
She urged residents to observe all the established health protocols, avoid even small gatherings, and stay inside their houses as much as possible.
