A group of former overseas Filipino workers (OFW) have banded together to launch a feeding mission in two barangays in Pasay City.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Board of Trustee Doc Chie Umandap, chairman of AKO OFW Inc., said the program was made possible through the assistance of House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda.
Umandap said the purpose of the program was to provide locals with sustenance amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), in particular during the imposition of the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.
Almost 2,000 pairs of bread and egg noodle soup (lomi) were distributed to residents of Barangays 180 and 181. To comply with health and safety protocols, the food was delivered house-to-house.
The group further said that the activity was in line with the government’s efforts to provide aid to low-income families affected by the pandemic.
Former Pasay city councilor Onie Bayona also assisted in carrying out the feeding mission.
According to Umandap, AKO OFW Inc. was formed to as a way to provide help to OFWs and their families.
