Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said senior citizens will receive a can of Ensure as they are among the "most vulnerable during this pandemic."

"Kailangan po talaga nilang mabigyan ng karagdagang tulong in terms of mga supplements (We really need to give them additional help in terms of their supplements)," he said.

A total of 150,000 cans of the powdered health drink were delivered to the city government on Monday (August 9).

Domagoso also said that even before the implementation of ECQ, the city government has already prepared for the senior citizen's needs.

"Inisip po natin na kahit pa anong mangyari — baka may mga delay sa release ng ayuda — at least sigurado na ang mga lolo at lola , nanay at tatay na seniors natin na may makukuha silang makakatulong agad sa kalusugan nila (We're thinking that there may be a delay on the release of cash aid. We made sure that our elderly people will receive supplements that can boost their health)," he said.

The senior citizens will also receive vitamins and allowance which are part of their aid package, according to Domagoso.

The local government also distributed Ensure to its elderly population last year.

According to the local government, the earliest distribution of the cash aid from the national government will be on Tuesday, August 10. It received the funding from the national government only on Friday, August 6.
