NCR residents urged to also buy fresh fish from Kadiwa stalls

Residents in Metro Manila, which is currently placed under the strictest community quarantine, have been encouraged to also buy fresh and frozen fish from Kadiwa stalls set up by the Department of Agriculture (DA).

"Aside from wet markets, residents from the National Capital Region and other areas may also choose to buy fresh and frozen fish commodities and other fishery products from the Kadiwa stalls," the DA's Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) said.

Kadiwa stalls are set up by the government to directly link food producers to the consumers, thereby lessening the cost of the products.

With the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) placed in Metro Manila until August 20, the bureau ensured an unhampered and sufficient supply of fishery commodities.

The DA-BFAR is mobilizing its fishery law enforcers on the ground with a directive to coordinate with other concerned government agencies in ensuring the smooth implementation of food pass.

It will also issue new ones to those without food passes through one of its technical divisions-- the Fisheries Inspection and Quarantine Division.

"For those who want to avail of relevant services of the DA-BFAR during the ECQ period, the agency encourages fisheries stakeholders in Metro Manila and other areas to transact online while the restrictions are in place," the agency said.
