The signature footwear of skateboarder Margielyn Didal under New Balance (NB) is now selling like hotcakes online. For sure, Margie’s contagious smile and positive vibes that she exhibited in this year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympics have something to do with it. Its design, inspired by the colors of the Philippine flag, could be another reason why it's flying off the rack.

Kaz Onozawa, the owner of Common Ground, an official online store partner of NB, disclosed to Manila Bulletin Lifestyle that the sale of Margie Didal Pro NM379 ‘Pilipinas’ sneakers skyrocketed during and after Margielyn’s Olympic stint. “We even get orders from Filipinos abroad, specifically in the US. And we never put it on sale,” Kaz said.
The sneaker is the first NB Numeric Asia signature colorway from the professional street skateboarder Margielyn. Thus, to honor her legacy, M.DIDAL 379 is printed in bright yellow on the heel counter of the shoes.

The pair that comes in gray shades has a mismatched look as it carries the red and blue color of our flag from top to bottom. It has a yellow N logo on its medial sides but its lateral sides have a red N on the left shoe and blue N on the right shoe. Also, the right sneaker has a red lining and outsole heel while the left sneaker has blue. Not to mention a little detail which is also in blue and red, the metal eyelet on top.
As a Philippine-inspired shoe line, it wouldn't be complete without putting the Philippine flag on its design. Thus, when you look closely at its heel, you can find the three stars in a sun, and red and blue stripes on its pull tab.

Other features of the simple sneaker include a Polyurethane (PU) insert for impact protection and a vulcanized outsole that helps bring durability. Moreover, the gray sneaker with a white sole has a suede upper and a smooth leather over canvas tongue.
Margie wore the said signature shoes in her recent game in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics where she placed 7th.
The pair of shoes comes with an extra rounded shoelace in gray-based color with a red and blue accent. Margie was seen using the extra lace instead of the flat plain gray that’s inserted in the shoes when purchased.

The Cebuana skateboarder announced the launch of her NB Numeric signature colorway shoes last year in April through an Instagram post.
