BaliPure ends PVL campaign on high note with a four-set win over Perlas

BaliPure outhustled Perlas, 24-26, 25-19, 25-17, 26-24, to snap a five-game losing spell and end its campaign on a bright note in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the PVC Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte Saturday.

Bern Flora stepped up in the pivotal moments for the Water Defenders, who finished their bid with a 3-6 win-loss record.

Trailing 24-23 in the fourth set, Flora unloaded a crosscourt spike to tie the score before following it up with back-to-back hits to seal the win for BaliPure.

Flora finished with 13 points.

Though failing to advance to the next round, BaliPure coach Rommel is still proud of what they have achieved.

“Yun naman sinabi namin sa mga players namin: since wala na tayong pag-asa sa Final 4, we might as well do our best and finish the season strong,” he said.

“Na-satisfy naman ako kaya lang nakulangan ako sa mga talo namin kasi we’re almost there, hindilang kami maka-get over the hump. Parang, lalamang kami, magbibigay kami, yung maturity and consistency wala pa, which is hinahanap pa namin.”

Grazielle Bombita led the Water Defenders throughout with 19 points built on 14 spikes and five aces, while Satrriani Espiritu and Geneveve Casugod chipped in 12 and 10 points.

Perlas capped off its campaign with its eighth loss in nine outings.
