3 ADB-funded road constructions in Zamboanga Peninsula halfway done--DPWH

Groundwork on the three Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded major road projects in Zamboanga Peninsula continues to advance despite the pandemic, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

"Civil works for three core sub-projects located in the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte, are in advance stages of completion," DPWH Undersecretary Emil Sadain said Saturday, August 7, following an inspection on the sites.

The 15-kilometer Tampilisan-Sandayong Road in Zambonga Del Norte is now 73 percent accomplished. It involves the concreting of a 12-kilometer road portion and the New Dapitan Bridge, which is nearing completion.

The 24-kilometer Alicia-Malangas Road in Zamboanga Sibugay is now at 66 percent progress rate. Its construction include the paving of 15 -kilometer road portion and eight bridges. Five of these bridges are substantially finished.

Also in Zamboanga Sibugay, the 29.76-kilometer Lutiman-Guicam-Olutanga Road is at 58 percent progress rate.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said the three ongoing road constructions are part of the mission to improve the growth corridors in Mindanao to give way for the development of agribusiness, ecotourism, and logistics necessary to achieve inclusive, and sustainable growth.

Meanwhile, other ongoing projects in the region includes the 24-kilometer R.T. Lim-Siocon Road, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga Del Norte; 1.21-kilometer Guicam Bridge, Zamboanga Sibugay; 33-kilometer Curuan-Sibuco Road, Zamboanga City and Zamboanga Del Norte; and 17-kilometer Siay-Gapol Road, Zamboanga Sibugay.
