(UPDATE) Whodunit? Mud-dumping leaves portion of EDSA a mucky mess
The first day of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the metropolis became a mucky and messy one for Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel manning EDSA after a truck reportedly dumped mud on a sizeable portion of the road.
"Heads up guys! Please avoid Ayala Tunnel NB. There are mud on the road dumped by unknown truck. Two motorcycle accidents have already been recorded. You may take the busway or better yet the service ," EDSA traffic czar Edison Bong Nebrija wrote in a Facebook post Friday morning, Aug. 6.
"It’s already starting to rain and this will be more slippery so please avoid this area," he noted.
The following pictures shared by Nebrija showed just how thick the resulting layer of mud was on the highway:

But what really ticked off the MMDA official was the fact that the spilled mud slowed down several ambulances that tried to traverse the section afterward.
"To the one who intentionally dumped these mud on EDSA. Di po kami naperwisyo mo bayad po oras namin, pero sana makunsensya ka sa ilang ambulansya na naperwisyo ng kalokohan mo. Sana lang di mo mahal sa buhay laman nyan (We are not the ones you inconvenienced, we're paid to do this. But I hope you pity the several ambulances that you pestered with your shenanigans. Hopefully they didn't carry a loved one of yours)," he said in a subsequent post.
So, who's behind the mud-dumping? You can be sure that EDSA's "eagle alpha" is eager to find out. In fact he has already checked out the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage for answers.
"Yes pero hirap makuha plate kung meron man, mukhang wala pa (but it's hard to make out the plate number, it's possible that there wasn't any)," he later told the Manila Bulletin.
Asked to describe the traffic on EDSA Friday, Nebrija said, "Maraming sasakyan sa EDSA kumpara sa unang ECQ natin last year (There were more vehicles on EDSA compared to our first ECQ last year)."
