The fashion bible celebrates new beginnings with a diverse group of models on its cover
Through the 2009 documentary by R.J. Cutler, we get a glimpse of the long, dramatic process of putting up the most important issue of Vogue in a year, the September issue. Usually the thickest issue, the September glossy sets the tone and direction for the entire fashion year. That's why making it special and big is just a must.

After its artistic covers last September 2020, Vogue's best issue this year not only features a single cover star but a diverse group of models in celebration of the theme Fashion's New Beginnings. Much like a scene from the movie "The Devil Wears Prada," the cover, shot by photographer Ethan James Green, presents models Anok Yai, Ariel Nicholson, Bella Hadid, Lola Leon, Sherry Shi, Yumi Nu, Kaia Gerber, and Precious Lee in Vogue's office.
"For this issue, eight American models representing a new generation in fashion sat down with Vogue to reflect on a changing industry," the title says.
Written by Maya Singer, the feature deals with the evolving modeling industry and its inclusive and diverse shift.
“When you’re casting, the question is always, ‘Can she carry the clothes?’” designer Christopher John Rogers shares with Vogue. “But that means something different than it used to. It’s not about a particular look or even a particular identity that someone represents—you’re embracing a model for what she does as a component of who she is. Her story becomes part of the fantasy.”
Echoing Met Gala 2021's theme, the bevy of models are dressed in the best American fashions, from Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren to Tom Ford and Christopher John Rogers, just to name a few. Its fashion editorial also has some industry cameos from designers Kerby Jean-Raymond and Brandon Maxwell, even editor Anna Wintour is making an appearance via Zoom meeting.

Apart from its cover stars, the September issue also dabbles on upcycling couture, the new Prada, and global fashion, which you can see here.
