No chaos this time: Abalos notes 'orderly' conduct of Metro vaccinations on 1st day of ECQ
True to his word, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos led inspections at various vaccination hubs in the cities of Las Piñas, Muntinlupa and Parañaque on Friday, Aug. 6 to ensure an orderly conduct of jabs.

And unlike the reports of chaos and physical distancing violations that he had received the past couple of days, Friday's vaccinations were "very orderly and very efficient", according to Abalos.
"Our overall assessment on the vaccination process on the said areas is very orderly and very efficient. We have our target to protect Filipinos from the deadly coronavirus disease through inoculation," the MMDA chief said.
Friday was the first day of the two-week reimplementation of an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ)--the strictest lockdown possible--in the National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila. The return of ECQ is meant to curb the local transmission of the more dangerous Delta variant of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
On Thursday, Abalos noted seeing on social media videos and photos of crowds of people violating minimum health protocols while waiting for their turn at vaccination sites around the metropolis.

Supposedly, a large portion of the people panicked and rushed to get the jabs after hearing false information that unvaccinated individuals won't be entitled to “ayuda” or cash aid.
Fortunately, there were no such scenes Friday as the queues of people at SM Southmall Las Piñas, Ayala Malls Southmall in Muntinlupa and SM City BF Parañaque were systematic.
Abalos, himself a COVID-19 survivor, appealed to the public to stop believing in fake news in connection with the vaccination or the pandemic in general.
"This is a critical phase right now. I'm appealing to everyone. Kaya natin ito basta walang fake news at walang maniniwala sa fake news (We can get through this, as long as nobody spreads fake news and nobody believes in fake news)," he emphasized.
