The Quezon City government has already vaccinated more than half of its target 1.7 million individuals against COVID-19.
This came after 1,015,256 residents and workers received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 597,517, including those who got the single-dose Johnson & Johnson's Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, completed their jabs, the local government announced Friday.
It means at least 1.6 million doses of various COVID-19 vaccine brands have already been administered in the city.
The local government reached the milestone without having to allow walk-ins at its vaccination sites.
"We are proud of this achievement but again, this is just a reminder of how far we still have to go in order to achieve population protection. We will continue to vaccinate our residents and workers until everyone is protected," Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
"We will prioritize the safety of our residents and workers in vaccination sites by following all safety protocols, even as we ramp up inoculations during ECQ," she added.
