DOST deploys e-Payment system to better serve public

An in-house developed e-Payment system has been deployed to agencies under Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in a move to facilitate seamless business transactions and ensure those availing the services of its Institutes will be better served.

DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said it was the agency’s Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) that deployed the online payment transaction system.

He said the system has been initially deployed to seven DOST agencies namely, the DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC), Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI), Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Central Luzon and DOST Regional Offices IX (Zamboanga Peninsula), X (Northern Mindanao) and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon).

The DOST-ITDI’s payment system was made possible through the collaborative effort with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).

“It was designed to be part of a holistic, modular, information system framework, whereby agencies will quickly adopt modules according to their needs,” de la Peña said.

“Customers now have an option to pay online using their digital banks and online prepaid accounts using the system.”

The DOST chief cited that the login-based system can generate reports that are submitted to the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) and the Commission on Audit (COA).

“The system will help expedite business transactions, reduce turn-around time, and create an environment that facilitates seamless transactions and enhances customers’ overall experience availing DOST-ITDI services,” he said.

The ePayment system is accessible through DOST - ITDI Customer Portal and processes customer payment anytime and anywhere, de la Peña said.
