DOH: 119 more Delta variant cases detected in PH, total now at 450

The Department of Health (DOH) said another 119 cases of Delta coronavirus variant were detected in the country.

Of the new 119 Delta variant cases, 93 are local cases, 20 are Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF), and six cases are currently being verified if these are local or ROF cases, the DOH said in a statement on Friday, August 6.

Meanwhile of the 93 local cases, 18 cases had an indicated address in Metro Manila, while 14 had indicated addresses in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), 18 in Central Luzon, 31 in Western Visayas, eight in Northern Mindanao, and one each in Central Visayas, Eastern Samar, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

“Based on the case line list, 118 cases have been tagged as recovered while one has an outcome that is being verified. All other information is being validated by our regional and local health offices,” the DOH said.

The total Delta variant cases in the country now reached 450.

Other variants of coronavirus were also detected, the DOH said. There were 125 fresh Alpha variant cases, 94 new Beta variant cases, and 11 more P.3 variant cases in the latest batch of whole genome sequencing.

The total Alpha variant in the Philippines stood at 2,093; Beta variant cases at 2,362; and P.3 variant at 287. Gamma variant cases remain at two, the DOH said.
