Bishop urges public to get vaccinated against COVID-19

Balanga Bataan Bishop Ruperto C. Santos is urging the public “to get vaccinated against the coronavirus to help fight the spread of the more infectious Delta variant.”

Santos said all the members of the clergy and the religious in his diocese including the staff had been vaccinated.

“All the members of the clergy in the Diocese of Balanga, the religious and diocesan had been vaccinated with two doses of either Sinovac, AstraZeneca or Pfizer. All our diocesan personnel had also been vaccinated with two doses of the anti-COVID vaccine,” the prelate said over Radio Veritas.

All the 332 employees (teaching and non-teaching personnel) of the nine parochial schools under the diocese had also received their first dose of the anti-COVID vaccine and are scheduled to receive their second dose in the third week of August.

“We fully support the government’s vaccination program to help fight the spread of the virus and eventually end this pandemic. The diocese allows all our Catholic schools to be used as vaccination centers,” Santos said.

Santos continues to encourage the faithful “to pray for an end to the pandemic as well as for the safety and well-being of every Filipino.”
