San Juan City to get P98-M ECQ aid

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said on Wednesday, August 4, that the local government will receive P98 million from the national government for the financial aid or ayuda for its marginalized citizens to be affected by the reimposition of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila starting August 6.

Zamora said the distribution system for the ayuda will be the same as in April this year. It was distributed by the staff of the City Treasury Department and the City Social Welfare and Development Department.

“Our previous distribution system, although in-person, was proven fast and efficient. The same system will be used this time around with 100 persons per hour per barangay to make sure we avoid crowds,” Zamora said.

The National Capital Region (NCR) is set to revert to ECQ starting August 6 until August 20 to curb the spread of the more transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19.
