Quarantine pass not required in Muntinlupa during ECQ

The Muntinlupa City government will not require quarantine passes from residents during the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila from August 6 to 20.

Muntinlupa police chief Col. Melecio Buslig said quarantine passes are not needed during ECQ and Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs) will only need to present a valid ID.

Buslig reiterated that only APORs will be allowed to go out of their residence and said random checkpoints will be installed along the National Road.

The Muntinlupa Police will strictly implement health protocols such as wearing of face masks with face shields and guidelines on public transportation.

During the ECQ, only 50 percent of the capacity of jeepneys and buses will be allowed, while one passenger per tricycle and no back ride policy will be implemented.

They will put barricades and cones at quarantine control points located at Muntinlupa-San Pedro, Laguna boundary, Susana Heights exit, Sucat-Taguig boundary, and Biazon Road-Alabang boundary starting midnight, Aug. 6.

Meanwhile, the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac) said vaccination will continue regardless of community quarantine classification.

MunCoVac said residents with schedules for vaccination will be allowed to go out of their residence during ECQ. Residents will only need to present the text message from MunCoVac or their vaccination card (schedule for the second dose) to be considered as APOR.

The Muntinlupa City Council passed an ordinance expanding the list of APOR during the ECQ to include persons with confirmed vaccination schedules from MunCoVac and those who will register in the vaccination center nearest their residence within their respective barangays.

City Council majority floor leader Raul Corro said the initiative aims to assist in the thrust of the city government to achieve high vaccination numbers during ECQ.

As of August 4, 326,157 vaccines have been deployed in Muntinlupa, of which 189,907 individuals received the first dose, or 49.2% of the target population of 385,725, and 140,568 individuals are now fully vaccinated, or 36.4 percent of the target.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi also issued an executive order imposing curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. in Muntinlupa during ECQ, and a total liquor ban.

As of Aug. 4, Muntinlupa has 743 active COVID-19 cases out of 15,213 confirmed cases, 14,080 recoveries, and 390 deaths.
