Monsoon rains to prevail over 6 Luzon areas - PAGASA

Monsoon rains are seen to prevail over the northern section of Luzon as the southwest monsoon or “habagat” continues to affect the country, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is currently monitoring four tropical cyclones outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja noted that the weather disturbances are slightly intensifying the effects of the habagat, which continues to affect the western section of Luzon.

With this, monsoon rains would prevail over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

State meteorologists warned of possible flash floods or landslides during scattered to widespread moderate to at times heavy rains

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may be experienced over Metro Manila; rest of Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Cagayan; Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.

As for the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the habagat will prevail.
