Mayor Vico: No quarantine pass during ECQ in Pasig

Unlike other local government units (LGUs), the city government of Pasig will not be issuing quarantine passes to its residents.

Mayor Vico Sotto said that Pasig residents are allowed to leave their homes to purchase essential goods, for emergencies, and to go to work.

‘“Yung huling ECQ guidelines (as of May 2021) ang gagamitin, pero mananatili tayong flexible kasi maaaring amyendahan o dagdagan pa ito ng nasyonal (We will use the last ECQ or enhanced community quarantine guidelines, as of May, 2021, but we will remain flexible because the national government may amend it),” he said on Thursday (May 5).

“ might cause more problems. At this point many do not have their old permits anymore and it takes time to print and distribute new ones. It may also cause long lines in the barangays for those who will say that they have not received theirs yet,” Sotto explained when asked by the Manila Bulletin.

On Wednesday (May 4), Sotto attended an ECQ coordination meeting with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, and Pasig barangays.

The mayor said public transportation will remain available to residents during ECQ.

The ECQ will be implemented in Metro Manila from August 6 to 20 following the surge of cases and the threat posed by the Delta variant of COVID-19 which is highly contagious.

Due to the imposition of ECQ, the national government said it will provide financial assistance to listed Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries.

On August 2, Sotto said a total of 167,688 individuals have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Pasig City.

He said the total number of fully vaccinated individuals equates to 20 percent of Pasig’s population.
