Remulla tells constituents not to panic buy amid looming ECQ in Cavite

CAVITE - Governor Jonvic Remulla reminded his constituents not to resort to panic buying in case the province reverts back to the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

In a Facebook post on Thursday (August 4), Remulla said that after a lengthy meeting with the governors of Region 4A as well as representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) last Monday, no consensus was reached for the quarantine classification of the region.

However, he received information from a DILG official about the possibility of implementing ECQ in the region.

"Kaninang umaga ay ayon sa mataas na opisyal ng DILG ay masugid nilang pinag-aaralan na mapasilalim ang Region 4A, kasama ang Cavite, sa ECQ kasabay ang NCR simula August 6 hanggang August 20 (This morning, a high official from the DILG said they're evaluating the implementation of ECQ in Region 4A, including Cavite, along with the National Capital Region from August 6 to August 20)," Remulla wrote.

Amid the development, Remulla reminded CaviteÃ±os not to panic as grocery stores, public markets, and public transportation will continue to operate.

"Antabayanan po ang official announcement ng IATF tungkol dito bukas (Stay tuned for the official announcement of the Inter-Agency Task Force tomorrow)," the governor added.

Remulla said on August 3 that Cavite is recording an average of 400 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases a day and that a stricter community quarantine status in the province is possible if cases continue to surge.
