Parañaque City LGU launches 'bike pantry' for hospital staff

The Parañaque City government launched a "bike pantry" on August 3 for easy mobilization of health care workers of Ospital ng Parañaque (OSPAR) 1 and 2.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez said five bicycles were deployed to OSPAR 1 located at Barangay La Huerta and five more to OSPAR 2 in Barangay Don Bosco.

Olivarez said the 10 bicycles were donated by Councilor Wahoo Sotto on his birthday to help transport hospital staff.

Dr, Jefferson Pagsisihan, medical director of OSPAR 1&2, thanked Olivarez and Sotto for the bicycle donation which he said will be used in buying medicines to nearby drug stores or in going to the City Hall.

Pagsisihan said the bicycles will be for the exclusive use of medical health care workers for hospital needs.

“The bicycles are not meant for use by the hospital staff in going to work and back home but only for important needs in the hospital like buying medicines in a nearby drug store,” Pagsisihan said.

The OSPAR 1&2 medical director said the use of bicycles is very convenient because they do not need fuel and can save time on traffic.
