More than 200 individuals volunteer for Manila's 24/7 vaccination

More than 200 individuals have volunteered for the City of Manila's 24/7 vaccination, the local government said on Wednesday (Aug. 4).

Since the call for volunteers last August 2, the local government said 220 have already applied to assist in the vaccination program.

From the 220 volunteers, three are medical technologists, five are doctors, six are pharmacists, nine are nurses, and six are post-graduate interns (PGIs).

Also included in the total number of volunteers are nine dentists, 10 midwives, and 132 encoders.

Manila Mayo Franciso “Isko Moreno” Domagoso thanked the volunteers in his regular live update on Facebook on Tuesday.

“Thank you very much sa tulong ninyo at pagtugon ninyo sa panawagan namin na magtulong-tulong tayo. Magbayanihan tayo, mamamayan at pamahalaan (for your help and for responding to our call to help each other. Let us work together, the citizens and the government),” he said.

Domagoso said the 24/7 vaccination is among the city’s fallback to address the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country due to the Deltra variant.

“We're really trying to create some fallback. Kailangan natin bilisan ang kilos dahil mas mabilis ang impeksyon (We need to act fast because the (transmission of infection is faster),” he said.
