Good news for learners with disabilities! DepEd's 'Kakaiba-yanihan' to be aired during ECQ

The Department of Education (DepEd) announced Wednesday, Aug.4, that its “Kakaiba-yanihan”, an inclusive psychological support service television program for learners with disabilities will be aired during enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

DepEd said elementary learners with disabilities may rewatch the Kakaiba-yahihan at DepEd TV from Aug. 9 to 20 at 9 a.m.

"Let's do art activities, play, and have fun together with our guest artists. In Kakaiba-yanihan, we learn to support one another and create meaningful interaction with our learners,” it wrote on Facebook.

Kakaiba-yanihan is one of DepEd’s Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) programs. It is an “online series fostering a supportive community that accepts, protects and helps learners with disabilities,” DepEd said.

The child-friendly program uses music, storytelling segments, and art activities to educate learners with disabilities.

Other MHPSS programs include OKKK! Tambayan (Online Kahusayan at Katatagan ng Kabataan) program, one of the DepEd’s support systems to help ensure the overall well-being of secondary learners in the Philippines; and TALA: Tuklasin, Alamin, Likhain, at Alalahanin, an educational TV program for elementary learners that focuses on the development of the child’s Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL).

The DepEd-Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS) is behind the implementation of these programs.
