DepEd: Over 235K SIM cards with connectivity load now being used by teachers, non-teaching personnel
The Department of Education (DepEd) has reported that more than 235,000 subscriber identity module (SIM) cards with connectivity load are currently being used by its teaching and non-teaching personnel.

DepEd said as of Aug. 2, 95.45 percent of all SIM cards have been delivered in all regions and divisions. It is eyeing to distribute around 1 million SIM cards to its Central and Field Offices.
“As to actual usage, only about 235,645 SIM cards are being used as of August 2, 2021,” it wrote on Facebook.
The DepEd said the SIM cards intended for public school teachers and non-teaching employees in Dinagat Island, Manila, Batanes, Lanao del Norte, and DepEd Region 12 “are all in transit.”
DepEd records showed that a total of 41,736 SIM cards have already been activated, but are not being used, while 722, 619 were not yet activated.
“Regional and division updates—distribution, activation and actual usage—will soon be reported,” DepEd said.
In June, DepEd announced that it started distributing SIM cards to its personnel in Central and Field Offices as part of its commitment to provide essential services and assistance amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
