COVID cases in QC have gone up to 95% - Mayor Belmonte

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday said COVID cases in the city have gone up to 95 percent.




“In a span of two weeks' time, the number of cases has gone up to 95 percent dito po sa Quezon city, and this is with testing, tracing, and isolation,” Belmonte said in a virtual conference.




She said that it is a good thing that the private sector agreed to the two-week Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR) to help stop the transmission of the virus.




She also said that two weeks ago, the city’s daily attack rate was 4. It is now already at 9, while the positivity rate is now at 11.




The city’s reproduction rate has gone up to 1.57.




“Nakikita ko po na imperative talaga na magkaroon po tayo ng medyo drastic measures, at ako po ay umaasa na within that two weeks' time, mas lalo pa tayong magiging protektado sa dami ng bakuna na ating iro-roll out (It is really imperative that we have institute drastic measures, and I hope that within the two weeks' time, we will be even more protected with the amount of vaccine that we will roll out),” she said.




The city mayor has appealed to the private sector and other businesses that can donate food and other necessities to affected residents and individuals in the city due to the reimposition of ECQ starting on Friday, August 6.




“Ako rin po ay umaasa na sana yung mga may konti pang resources na pwedeng maitulong sa ating mga mamamayan, sana po you can also help us because the ayuda coming from the national government will be delayed (I also hope that those who have a little more resources can help our people, I hope you can also help us because the help coming from the national government will be delayed),” she said.
