2 Pisay scholars recognized as 'Most Outstanding Delegates' at UN model conference for students

Two students of the Philippine Science High School - Cordillera Administrative Region Campus (PSHS-CARC) have been named as “Most Outstanding Delegates” at the Model United Nations of the University of Chicago Singapore 2021 (MUNUC SG 2021) on July 30 to Aug. 1.

The PSHS System on Wednesday, Aug. 4, extended its felicitations to PSHS-CARC’s Shanley Valenzuela and Mark Joshua Daquipil for their feat in this year’s MUNUC SG.

“Good job, dear scholars! The Philippine Science High School System congratulates Shanley Valenzuela and Mark Joshua Daquipil of Philippine Science High School - Cordillera Administrative Region Campus (PSHS-CARC) for their excellent performance during the Model United Nations of the University of Chicago SG 2021 (MUNUC SG 2021) last July 30-August 1, 2021,” it said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“They were awarded as Most Outstanding Delegates for the World Health Organization Committee,” it cited.

At the UN model conference, delegates were challenged to address key global issues through diplomacy in action. They were given the platform to enhance their negotiation and public speaking skills and leadership and teamwork ability.

In its website, the Global Citizen Academy, MUNUC SG 2021 “is designed to provide a substantive and skill-based curriculum as part of an innovative and engaging online Model UN programme.”

The academy is the Global Citizen Education Group’s flagship enrichment arm which offers a suite of enrichment programs in the areas of public speaking, global citizenship, leadership, debate, Model United Nations amongst others

"United Nations, or MUN, is an academic simulation of the actual United Nations. In these model conferences, students take on the role of diplomats, known as “delegates”, representing different countries and engaging in constructive discussion about current world issues,” it explained.
