PH to have cloudy weather, some rain showers due to ITCZ -- PAGASA

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) remains the dominant weather system that may bring rain showers over most of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Aug. 31.
The ITCZ, which is a region where the trade winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Apayao, Kalinga, Aurora, Quezon, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.
PAGASA warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with short-lived heavy rain, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
Weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz said PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area or tropical cyclone that may form or enter the country "at least in the next two to three days."
Based on climatological records, PAGASA estimated that two or three tropical cyclones may enter or affect the country in September.
