PH already administers over 33 million COVID-19 vaccine doses

The Philippines has administered more than 33 million doses of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

DOH data showed that the country has already given 33,099,392 doses of vaccines as of Aug. 29. Of this number, 13,784,681 people have been fully vaccinated while 19,314,711 already received their first dose.

Among the partially vaccinated, 2.36 million were healthcare workers, 3.36 million were senior citizens, 5.38 million were persons with comorbidities, 6.27 million were essential workers, and 1.95 million were indigents.

Of the fully vaccinated, over 1.94 million were healthcare workers, 3.92 million were senior citizens, 5.04 were persons with comorbidities, 2.38 million were essential workers, and 474,179 were indigents.

The DOH reminded the public that the best defense against COVID-19 is by following the minimum public health standards and by getting vaccinated.

“Let’s remember to properly wear our masks and face shields, observe physical distancing, wash our hands, and ensure there is ventilation when we are indoors,” the DOH said.

“Also, let’s get vaccinated when it’s our turn and get the second dose as scheduled. Together, we can beat COVID-19,” it added.
