Local bookshop among 2021 Regional Productivity Olympics winners

A local bookshop was among the winners of the 2021 Regional Productivity Olympics of the National Wages and Productivity Commission.

The Productivity Olympics, hosted by the National Wages Productivity Commission, recognizes and benchmarks establishments that have demonstrated resilience and overcome difficulties amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rallying behind its theme "Bounce Back Better," the 2021 Productivity Olympics is also a confidence-building strategy for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Pandayan Bookshop was named among the regional winners.

Twelve successful MSMEs based in the National Capital Region were hailed as 2021 Regional Productivity Olympics winners for the nine categories – micro, small, and medium enterprises for agribusiness, service, and industry sectors.

The regional winners received cash awards and priority endorsement to the training programs of the Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Labor and Employment.

"This award is a great honor. This is proof that we are effectively responding to the pandemic challenge through good manners, camaraderie, and humanity," Jacob Cabochan, Pandayan's Chief Operations Officer, said in Filipino.

"When we work together and help each other, we can all bounce back. Together with DOLE and the whole Philippines, we can bounce back better even if there's still a pandemic," Cabochan added.

In the early stages of the pandemic, the bookshop's workforce assembled and distributed over 74,000 face shields to frontliners all over Luzon.

In 2020, the local government of Valenzuela City recognized Pandayan as the city's top job provider in the direct-hire category.
