Former Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Admiral Reuben Lista passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Lista’s death was confirmed by PCG Spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilo on Tuesday.
The PCG has extended heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the former PCG commandant on his passing.
PCG Commandant Admiral George Ursabia Jr. remembered Lista’s leadership of the country’s maritime industry for his “dedicated public service in the PCG where he rose through the ranks.”
Lista led major Coast Guard units including the Marine Environmental Protection Command and several Coast Guard districts in different regions across the country.
He also served as the deputy commandant for administration before being appointed as the 16th commandant of the Coast Guard from 2001 to 2003.
He, later on, became the chairman and CEO of the Philippine National Oil Corporation (PNOC).
The former PCG commandant was part of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) Class of 1969.
He was considered as one of the most decorated PMMA graduates to serve the Philippine Navy (PN) and the PCG.
