Barbie Imperial on dealing with online toxicity

Barbie Imperial is among celebrities very much active on social media.

She loves how the platform allows her to interact with fans.

It goes without saying that she also has experienced the ill-effects of the same.

Some fans often use social media to directly harass celebrities.

Then there are those who use the platform to spread fake news, among others.

So how does Barbie deal with these?

In a recent interview, Barbie related how she used to face these nuisances head-on.

"Lalo na kapag name-mention ‘yung name ko tapos alam ko po na hindi totoo, sumasagot talaga ako agad. Pumapatol agad ako na na ‘huh hindi naman yang totoo.’ Tapos ipagtatanggol ko ‘yung sarili ko,” she said.

The ongoing pandemic eventually made her change approach.

“Para kasing andami nang bagay na nakaka-stress, na alam ko naman na hindi totoo or imposible, parang nakakatamad na rin magsalita. Lalo na't alam mong hindi lahat mag-a-agree sayo. So, sa ngayon parang mas pinipili ko na lang ‘yung peace kesa harapin ‘yung mga nakaka-stress na mga usapin sa online world. Parang, pinipili ko na lang ‘yung mga laban ko."
