Two barangays in San Rafael town in Bulacan have been placed under granular lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

San Rafael Mayor Cipriano D. Violago Jr. said the Purok 3 and 4 in Barangay Capihan and the Paseo de San Roque Village of Brgy. San Roque have been placed under granular lockdown.
Violago said the granular lockdown in Purok 3 and 4 will last until September 3, while the one in Paseo de San Roque Village will last until September 5.
The granular lockdown declaration was made based on the recommendation of the town's Municipal Health Office (MHO) due to the COVID-19 surge in the municipality.
Violago said only Authorized Persons Outside of Residence or APORs are allowed to go outside the subdivision. These are the health workers, and essential workers in industries that are allowed to operate under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).
The prevailing granular lockdown in the two barangays is being implemented with the help of the San Rafael police and barangay officials.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Health Office of San Ildefonso reported that the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the municipality have now reached 1,635. Out of this number, 1, 296 have recovered.
Out of the 36 barangays, the villages with the highest number of cases are Poblacion (29), San Juan (19), Malipampang (16), Lapnit (15), Calasag (14), Maasim (12), Pinaod (12), Calawitan (9), Pala-pala (9), Pasong bakal (9), Mataas na Parang (8), Sapang Putik (8), and Sumandig (8).
The MHO also recorded three new deaths each from the villages of Akle, Matimbubong, and San Juan. There are now 87 COVID-related deaths in the municipality. (Freddie C. Velez)
