Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, also the chairman of the Metro Manila Council (MMC), said about 80 percent Metro Manila residents already received their first dose of vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Olivarez said 45 percent are already fully vaccinated.
The MMC is now looking at sharing the vaccines to nearby cities.
He said the city government opened its drive-through vaccination site at Nayong Pilipino which is located in front of Okada in partnership with Solaire and Megaworld. The site accepts vaccinees coming from nearby provinces and cities.
The mayor said non-Paranaque residents who wish to be vaccinated at their drive-through vaccination site must coordinate with and register at their respective LGU portals to be submitted to Solaire for their vaccination schedule.
Olivarez, in an interview with Teleradyo, said the city government vaccinated a total of 103.48 percent or about 462, 484 individuals from March 5 to August 28.
He said the city government is targeting to inoculate 446,923 of the city’s population against COVID-19.
The mayor said for the second dose or those that were fully vaccinated, the city government recorded 47.14 percent or about 218,046.
Olivarez said those who will receive their second dose of vaccines have already been scheduled within the month. Those who received Sinovac has interval of 28 days while for the AstraZeneca, it will be eight to 10 weeks.
He said the city government aims to inoculate majority of those who are scheduled for the second dose within the month.
