A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck Bongabong town in Oriental Mindoro on Monday night, Aug. 30, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

State seismologists said the tectonic quake occurred at 7:28 p.m., and had a depth of focus of 12 km.
Phivolcs earlier measured the quake at magnitude 4.5.
Its epicenter was plotted 5 kilometers southeast of Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro.
Intensity IV or “moderate strong” shaking was felt in Bongabong and Bansud, Oriental Mindoro.
Intensity III or “weak” shaking was felt in Roxas, Gloria and City of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.
Intensity II or “slightly felt” shaking was observed in Puerto Galera, Baco, San Jose, Socorro and Naujan, Oriental Mindoro; while Intensity I in Tingloy, Batangas.
Phivolcs also reported the following instrumental Intensities recorded after the quake.
Intensity III - City of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro
Intensity II - San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Mulanay, Quezon
Intensity I - Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Batangas City, Batangas
State seismologists said no damage and aftershock expected following the quake.
