Walk-in vaccination allowed for seniors during ECQ---DOH official

Senior citizens are allowed to go to the COVID-19 vaccination centers even if they don’t have an appointment during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in some areas of the country.

“Walk in shall not be allowed except for priority group A2 (senior citizens),” said DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje on Tuesday, August 3.

Cabotaje added that vaccination scheduling and pre-registration “shall prioritize” senior citizens and individuals with comorbidities.

“All vaccination sites must provide priority lanes for priority group A2 and priority group A3 (individuals with comorbidities),” she said.

Meanwhile, vaccination in “medical centers and hospitals shall be temporarily suspended in ECQ areas,” said Cabotaje.

“Para yung ating mga healthcare workers na nag aatend sa ating COVID response o mga pasyente ay hindi mahila para sa vaccination (So that our healthcare workers who are attending the COVID response or patients will not be pulled out for the vaccination activity),” she explained.

Cabotaje also urged the local government units to bring their respective vaccination services “nearer to vaccine recipients,” through quadrant or barangay zoning, use of mobile vaccination buses, and establishing temporary post-vaccination sites.
