Sta. Lucia routs Perlas, keeps semis bid alive

Sta Lucia bolstered its semifinal hopes after cruising to a 25-13, 25-18, 25-16 victory over Perlas in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Tuesday at the PVC Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

The Lady Realtors picked up their fifth win in eight matches behind the efforts of MJ Phillips, who uncorked 16 points highlighted by 13 kills.

The win put Sta Lucia at fifth place behind Choco Mucho (6-0), Creamline (6-1), Chery Tiggo (5-2) and Petro Gazz (5-2).

Jovielyn Prado also chipped in 10 points built on seven hits and three aces, while Djanel Cheng converted 16 excellent sets.

Sta. Lucia needed 73 minutes in dispatching the Perlas Spikers, who now bowed out of contention after absorbing their fifth loss in six appearances.

None from Perlas scored in twin figures with Sue Roces and Jho Maraguinot managing only eight points each.
