PetroGazz, Sta. Lucia bolster semis bid

Petro Gazz and Sta. Lucia battle for their place in the Top 4 when they collide with separate rivals Tuesday, August 3 in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the PVC Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

The Angels collide with the BaliPure Water Defenders at 3 p.m. while the Lady Realtors clash with the Perlas Spikers at 6 p.m.

PetroGazz, which currently tote a 4-2 win-loss mark at fourth place, is going all out for a win and make up for a stinging 18-25, 20-25, 22-25 defeat to Chery Tiggo Sunday while Sta. Lucia, in contrast, is on a three-game streak that was capped by a quick, merciless 25-15, 25-12, 25-14 win over Bali Pure the same day that put them at No. 5 with 4-3.

A victory would both bolster their semis bid.

Sta. Lucia coach Eddieson Orcullo is making sure no effort will be put to waste in their remaining two games including their last one against PetroGazz on Aug. 8.

“Nandoon kami sa punto na yung last two remaining games ay kailangan makuha at makuha yun, kaya dapat trabaho ng trabaho. Kasi for us, yung last two games parang championship games na sa amin,” said Orcullo.

Orcullo, however, thinks they need to improve on their service and reception to make it happen.

“Alam naman natin yung previous games natin, tatlong talo natin, service, receive ang problema. Kaya siguro ang masasabi ko ngayon, hindi naman ganun kalinis service, receive pero compared before masasabi natin na maganda improvement,” he said.
