OCTA Research sees improving COVID-19 situation in Cebu City

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David on Sunday, Aug. 29, said Cebu City's coronavirus situation has been improving as seen in the city's lower reproduction number and weekly growth rate.
"The reproduction number has decreased to 1.02. Good news Cebu City!" David said.
"This is on pace with our projections that Cebu City would be on a downward trend by first week of September, contrary to what some experts said that Cebu was not improving," he added.
The current growth rate of COVID-19 cases in Cebu City was 20 percent lower than a week ago.
OCTA has been saying that once the reproduction number of an area decreases close to 1, it will also start seeing a decrease in cases.
David earlier projected that the trend of COVID-19 cases in critical areas, such as Cebu City, may see a decreasing number of cases by the first week of September.
