H. E. R. to star in 'The Color Purple'

H.E.R. is out to prove her mettle on the big screen.

The Filipino-American singer is to appear in Warner Bros' upcoming film adaptation of "The Color Purple."

Variety broke the news in a recent report, noting H. E. R. is to play a waitress and aspiring singer in the film.

The announcement came mere months after she won two Grammy Awards, namely Song of the Year for “I Can’t Breathe” and Best R&B Song for her contribution to Robert Glasper’s “Better Than I Imagined.”

H. E. R. also won an Academy Award for her powerful song “Fight For You” from the Warner Bros. Pictures’ film "Judas and the Black Messiah."

H.E.R. is also starring in her own special episode of Amazon’s Prime Day Show, featuring music from her latest album.
